So It Didn't Work

Ok here it goes.....

My first night at the new job was my last night at the new job. I literally left in tears this morning (something that I have never done). I went into this new experience/challenge with an open mind; however, that was to change throughout the course of the night. I went into the facility explained who I was it started and just snowballed. "Oh are you the one from Delphi?" "Well, we've been anticipating your arrival the girl that is orientating you said that you should be orientating her" at that time I did not know exactly what that meant but I soon found out. I go to the unit that I am to work on and that's when my first clue of the upcoming nightmare started. I was 30 min late on my first day of work (I was not told that my shift actually started at 10:30)..ugh! I figured since I work 11-7 that I was to report to work at 11p. I am just going to jump ahead now some. I think I did feel a bit overwhelmed to be honest and I made a comment just don't ask me what it was (no it was not bad...I just cannot remember, but the nurse training me suddenly started making references that I was there saving them and making references again to my much anticipated arrival. I was lifted so high up on this pedestal like I was set up to fail. I finally said "You're making me out to be the Messiah" which depends on how you look at it was a an appropriate response or a nonappropriate response. The nurse said that she wouldn't take it that far; however, with the comments made.... Anyway, I am not a prideful or boastful person I actually question my abilities as a nurse and I really do not like being lifted up in such high regards when I really don't deserve it or know what I am doing. Fast forward... I had to show this nurse how to send someone to the ER and how to chart it. Why am I showing them how to do things when I am the one who is orientating?
So let's fast forward again. I quit the new job and have back my old job; however, it has now caused strife with a friend/co-worker because she had signed up for extra shifts and now because I am back full time they called and canceled her shifts. I apologized profusely and even told her that I told the scheduler not to take any shifts away from anybody....so I guess I might be in some hot water. I don't know if she truly accepted my apology.

Another work issue

Yep, another issue at work and I know for a fact that this time it is not my fault. Scheduling messed up and now a coworker is upset and trying to get me involved in a way that I do not want to get involved. I'm tired of the pettiness that occurs. I am now considering even harder to leave my current employer and switch within our company to another facility. My plan is to talk to Human Resources this week and find out about the switch. Maybe by years end I will be working elsewhere.
Please pray for me while I pray and make this decision.

Today

So, I worked last night and had prayed for patience however all patience flew out the window at 5am this morning. How many times do I have to explain....ok, ok, ok so they have dementia.

I had left work with no intention of going to church 1)because I need sleep after working all night and 2) see #1. This morning was a catch though. I was in the shower when something just came over me..maybe the little voices inside my head or God said "Go to church today, Go to church today" so I'm like ok I feel pretty good right now and if I can make it I'll go. So I went looking like a train wreck and got several comments/questions about the glasses. My typical response was "yes they are new but I'm only wearing them now because I have yet to go to bed for the day. I worked last night and had worn my contacts for 12+ hours already and was not about to put them back in." Your reactions to my saying that I had yet to sleep were priceless. Thanks.

I was fine until about noon and then it hit. I wanted sleep. I wanted to go out to eat with the group after service but I needed my sleep since I have to work yet tonight. I must apologize and we should do lunch again soon. I made it back to the house safely and had jokingly thought to myself about putting out an e-mail wondering if anyone would call me later to see if I was on my way to work or not. I decided against it since it was my idea or was it to go to church today and forgo sleep by a few hours.

?

So classes started up again on Monday. I am taking Sociology and Spanish 1 (yes on line). Things were going great until I tried to open up the homework for Spanish and it will not open....says the file is corrupt. I have e mailed the prof and so has some other students and yet still we cannot open the file. My question is how am I to have this homework done by Sunday and not procrastinate if I cannot open the file? Sociology so far is ok. I have most of the work done for it already. I am not looking forward to the papers in it though.

My mom had cataract surgery today. She can already tell the difference. I am having to put drops in it for her tonight then I take her back to the doctor tomorrow. So I am only hoping that things are truly on the up and up for her. I take her back again next week to have the other eye done.

Living with Deon is going fine. I have not really seen too much of her and that is because of my work schedule, doing things for my mom, Deon's travels and such.

I am still awaiting a reply to my interview at Arnett. I know they want to hear back from a couple of references and I want to interview for another position through them. So it is a wait and see game.

Back to work I go

Ahhh! After having last week off it was hard to head to work this past Monday. I really cannot complain too much because I only work 2 days a week and sure some of those days fall on weekends. I work this weekend (Easter weekend) and most of my residents will still be out with family when I get there at 7pm. The only thing is that my med pass can be looked at two way 1. easy because not everyone will be there when I start and 2. bad because it will be staggered out because of the times people are returning back to the facility. **Edit-everyone of my residents was at the facility and most families had already gone home...made for an easy night.

This year my family is not planning on doing anything specific for Easter. I don't feel like making a big meal and neither does my mom. Sure, my sister-in-laws could do something but you really don't want to eat what two of them would fix the third one could do a decent meal but we don't want to burden her.

Difficult

Though I have tonight off I am so not looking forward to going to work tomorrow night.

I find it difficult to go back to work after having 2-3 days (nights) off in a row, but what is even worse is when you have one night off and then have to head back in. Next week will be a (blank) week due to work messed up my schedule. I like to clump together my work days like work 2 off 2-3, but next week they have me working one day off a day work a day off a day. I get no rest when this happens and normally I would have complained but the next week they went ahead and gave me vacation time that I had requested for back in January, but now I have decided not to go anywhere. So yea a week off from work!!!!

Just the Other Day

On Saturday during that "ice" storm I headed to work. I do not know why I thought I needed to risk my life other than I was thinking that I would have to make up work. I was headed to work and not driving fast when I hit a patch of ice and a gust of wind hit which sent my car sliding. I am now sliding sideways down the highway facing utility poles when I start praying and take my foot off the accelerator. I am attempting to ease my car to face the right direction when I see that I am now headed for a mailbox now for the harder praying. I finally am facing the right direction without any damage and my heart beating ever slightly faster. (I think I was more scared then than when I was sliding sideways down 52 with cars all around me a few years ago.) So now that my car is facing the right way I drive even slower to gather my wits and make it finally to work. Of course, by the next morning the ice had basically melted and I had an uneventful trip home.

I think the next time I will call in.
